At MERJE Ltd, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Audit to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to build and lead an in-house audit function from the ground up, working closely with our Financial Services client.

The Role:
  1. Develop a comprehensive annual audit plan, prioritizing reviews based on risk assessments and justifications.
  2. Coordinate specialist third-party services for technical audits, while personally leading key internal reviews.
  3. Ensure the audit plan is delivered on time and within the approved budget.
  4. Produce detailed, well-structured reports for the Board and Executive Committee, highlighting key risks and the effectiveness of controls in relation to the business.
  5. Maintain independence as a credible third line of defence, adhering to best practices in internal audit.
  6. Build strong relationships with management to support the timely completion of actions arising from audit findings.
  7. Lead initiatives to strengthen the organization's risk management and control culture.
Requirements:
  1. Strong knowledge of internal audit standards and regulatory requirements within financial services.
  2. Expertise in internal control systems and audit practices relevant to financial institutions.
  3. Extensive experience in conducting internal audits in a regulated financial services environment.
  4. Proven senior leadership experience, with the ability to guide and influence at the executive and board level.
  5. Regulatory approval for the SMF5 role (prior SMF5 experience not required).
  6. Flexible and sociable working environment - hybrid working on offer (2 days per week in office).
