An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Library Service’s team for a Customer Service Apprentice leading to an NVQ level 2 qualification in Customer Service. The post holder will play a key role in supporting frontline services in libraries. The post is based at Plympton and Crownhill libraries but the successful candidate may be required to work elsewhere.

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and committed individuals.

The post holder will deliver the core services of the public library service, relating with customers in a library setting, providing digital support to customers, supporting events and activities for all ages such as rhymetimes and basic IT sessions, while presenting a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults. In addition, you will study for an NVQ2 qualification provided by Focus Training Group. This will involve elements of structured and self-motivated on and off the job learning.

The post holder will:

·        Have excellent communication and customer service skills to engage with customers and partners

·        Have good organisational skills

·        Have good ICT skills

·        Work effectively as part of a team and also independently using their own initiative

·        Have an enquiring mind, and an interest in books and reading is desirable

·        Be flexible in respect of working at multiple locations

  The post holder will work to a two-week schedule including alternate Saturdays.

Funding & Assessments:

Please be aware that if you are successful in your application you will be required to sit a functional skills assessment with the apprenticeship training provider. Your current and previous qualifications will also be checked to ensure that you are eligible for course funding. 

Please note that the position is not suitable for flexible working due to the needs of the service.
