The Opportunity

The Parliamentary Digital Service, a joint department of both Houses of Parliament, provides technology and intranet services to all Parliamentary users. It is also responsible for the strategic direction of Parliament's digital offering through Parliament's Digital Strategy and the delivery and management of parliamentary digital platforms, including the website. We support Parliament through our team of over 450 dedicated and professional digital colleagues.

The Productivity and Collaboration Team are the technology product owners for the collaboration tools used across Parliament. We provide provisioning, administration, and support for services such as email, file storage & collaboration, records management, and video conferencing.

The Messaging Analyst role provides 3rd line support and technical expertise for the messaging services supported by the Productivity & Collaboration team. This primarily consists of a Microsoft Exchange hybrid environment (managing both an on-premises and Microsoft 365 environment), and the Mimecast email security gateway. The Productivity & Collaboration team are the owners of the overall Microsoft 365 service, and this role regularly involves working across other areas of the M365 stack, particularly licensing, SharePoint Online, and the M365 Compliance Portal.

The Messaging Analyst will also be expected to provide support for our videoconferencing services (Microsoft Teams and Zoom) through close collaboration with the Videoconferencing Service Owner.

This role involves both "business as usual" support of day-to-day issues, and project work managed through the "Request for Service" process.


What You Need

Experience of applying a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving, to resolve complex technical issues.Experience of applying effective planning and organisational skills, prioritising to meet competing deadlines, while taking full responsibility for quality and timescales of work.Experience of providing 2nd or 3rd line technical support for a Microsoft 365 based environment.A detailed understanding of management and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange on-premises and/or hybrid environments.A detailed understanding of messaging protocols (e.g., SMTP) and security standards (e.g., SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and email-based cyber security threats.Experience of proactively contributing to and collaborating with a diverse team with different specialisms, increasing the efficiency of the team as a whole.Experience of providing 2nd or 3rd line technical support for videoconferencing services, especially Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
