Senior C# .NET Developer - Algorithmic Trading - Energy Firm


Aubay UK is seeking an experienced C# .NET Developer to join the Algo trading team within Trading and Supply. This developer will work in a front office trading environment, directly engaging with business users and stakeholders. The role involves the development and support of the existing platform for managing market and fundamental data across capture, forecasting, and visualisation for Power, Gas, and Weather. As the team grows rapidly, this platform is being evolved to align with our low-carbon ambitions.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in .NET/C# programming
  • Solid expertise in SQL Server
  • Azure Platform Development
  • Proven experience in fast-paced, demand-driven trading environments (e.g., embedded desk developer)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at balancing diplomatic and pragmatic approaches with formal processes
  • Proactive learner with the ability to quickly grasp domain knowledge and existing solutions under the guidance of the lead functional developer


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with fundamental modeling of commodities, particularly in energy sectors such as power, gas, and environmental products, and familiarity with meteorology, would distinguish top candidates
  • Familiarity with Azure or other Cloud-based hosting services
  • Proficiency in Entity Framework
  • Knowledge of Blazor (server-side), .NET API, Redis Cache, Azure Service Bus, or similar messaging technologies like Azure Event Hubs


Role Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate closely with business users (desk analysts) to thoroughly understand and refine requirements
  • Work closely with the lead functional developer to define, develop, test, and deploy new features
  • Provide timely solutions and bug fixes for critical production issues
  • Champion best practices and standards within the development team
  • Facilitate project meetings, track minutes, and actions, ensuring formal project closures and subsequent reviews to capture lessons learned.
  • Onboard new Project Managers, supporting their integration into the Project Delivery Framework.
