As Lecturer for the School of Historical Sciences you will be teaching for this coming year for 12 months, from September 2024.

As a Lecturer in Museum Studies, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality teaching on the core module ‘Museum Cultures: Skills, Approaches, Issues’.
  • Serving as Programme Director for the MA Museum Cultures and overseeing this flagship course.
  • Teaching the following MA modules:
  1. Art Museums in a Global Age – evening teaching.
  2. Curating – one week intensive.
Supervising BA and MA student research projects and dissertations. Contributing to the development of the curriculum. Engaging in public outreach linked to your academic specialism.

The ideal candidate for the Lecturer in Museum Studies role should have:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) level in an appropriate specialism or be close to completion.
  • Professional experience in museums and curating.
  • Teaching experience at degree and/or postgraduate level.
  • An understanding of different teaching and learning methods and experience of working with students from a range of backgrounds.

The School of Historical Studies, within the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, is situated in the heart of Bloomsbury, London, and brings together research, teaching and innovation across History of Art, Museums and Heritage, History, Classics, Archaeology and Philosophy.

Remuneration
£42,365 rising to £44,683 per annum. The salary, Grade LLEC, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
