About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching) to start on 1 September teaching mainly on our postgraduate Library and Information Studies (LIS) programme, with the possibility of some undergraduate teaching.

About you

We are particularly interested in applicants who could contribute to teaching within any of the broad areas or sectors of library and information studies, including but not limited to: physical, historical and digital collections; library management; library technologies; scholarly communication; information behaviour and information literacy; cataloguing and classification; and critical approaches to library and information work. The post holder will be expected: 

To design and carry out teaching and administration duties within the Department, with a teaching focus on LIS mainly at postgraduate level. To provide learning, assessment and pastoral support for modules with large student cohorts. To teach LIS-related subjects, mostly at postgraduate level with the possibility of undergraduate teaching, as allocated and reviewed periodically by the Head of Department. To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of high-quality curricula in LIS-related areas taught by the department. To assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work, and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance. To support or contribute to expanding range or depth of taught subjects within the department including at UCL East. To develop, administer, mark and moderate assessments. To supervise undergraduate and taught graduate (MA/MSc) dissertations. To provide pastoral care and support to students. To maintain own continuing professional development in subjects of expertise through research and training. To actively follow and promote UCL policies, including Equal Opportunities.
