Monday Friday (35hr week) requiring some flexibility

An opportunity has arisen for a Supported Housing Officer to work a 35-hour week, reporting to the Supported Housing Team Leader. This role requires a fully enhanced DB and applicants must be a car driver/owner.

You will play an integral part of the business, responsible for the day to day managing of safe and secure supported accommodation. Working with vulnerable individuals needing practical and emotional support in a time of crisis.

The role

  • Provide housing related support and intensive housing management to vulnerable tenants.
  • Working closely with other service providers and Councils to ensure maximum occupancy.
  • Provide and promote practical and emotional support assisting in the development of service users.
  • Assisting service users in moving on into independent accommodation within 12 months maximum stay.
  • Day-to-day running of all services to promote and encourage good practice.
  • Work flexibly and cover holidays, sickness and work some bank holidays. Covering for colleagues sometimes at short notice.
  • To work in the community at service users home addresses which are dispersed in Bradford.
  • Regularly visit other services including No Second Night Out, Day Shelter and Housing Options service to promote our units to rough sleeping men and women.
  • To assist the Head of Service and Team Leader in any publicity strategies to raise awareness of the issues affecting rough sleeping men and women, particularly issues around safeguarding, public safety, and community cohesion.
  • In the absence of the Team Leader, you may be asked to supervise volunteers and/or student placements working at the Project.
  • Deliver a duty of care to service users in line with our Health & Safety Policy and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance monitoring reports for the Head of Service in conjunction with the Team Leader.
  • Respond to emergencies in a calm and proactive manner, seeking advice and support where necessary and acting on decisions within agreed procedures.
  • Aware of and liaise with a wide range of agencies, both statutory and voluntary and engage them where necessary as part of your service delivery to clients.
  • Attend regular team meetings, scheme meetings and other internal or external meetings
  • Ensure flats are maintained to a high standard by working proactively with service users to promote life skills and ensure that they adhere to their tenancy conditions.
  • Maintain information in service users files and record support work, contacts, risk assessments and daybook entries in a clear and concise manner.
  • Managing service user rent accounts minimising accumulating debts
  • Assisting with budgeting plans for service users, offering support and solutions
  • Assisting service users with claims and working with DWP
  • Mobilising all resources to ensure that flats are turned around the same day where possible.
  • Proactive in supporting and empowering service users i.e., accompanying them to external appointments and sometimes acting as their advocate e.g., GP s, substance support services, health clinics etc.

About You

  • Confident communicator with the ability to document actions promptly with accuracy
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Sensitively handle neighbourhood disputes and work to query resolution
  • Debriefing service users of good housekeeping and offering support where needed
  • Sympathetic and practical in offering solutions
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to build relationships and encourage participation at house meetings/events and activities
