At CMS2, we specialise in the design and manufacture of atmospheric control systems for the defence industry. We are experts in enabling high availability atmosphere management systems to generate breathable air for submariners, allowing boats to remain underwater for long periods of time.
Our role is the focus for all engineering activities for In Service Support Projects / Spares, working directly to the ISS Delivery Manager, and supporting the ISS Technical Manager, and ISS Project Managers to ensure the product is delivered to the specification of the Product/Project.
Key responsibilities and tasks
Manage any design improvement/obsolescance activities relating to the assigned projects, providing technical guidance in line with the Product Specification to the engineering resources assigned, including managing the flow of information between multiple departments. Responsible for enacting changes to maintain specifications (ESS, ECS, MSS, MCS, GES, ETS etc. ). Responsble for creation and maintainence of Product Bills of Materials. Define the content of standard project documentation (technical, operation, maintenance manual etc. ) for the technical author as set out by the Systems Engineer in the systems specification and P&ID. Report on the technical content of the project to the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers. This includes supporting regular reviews to ensure the right approach is being followed, and that any requirements for additional expertise are addressed. Identify technical risks to the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers and work on the appropriate strategies for risk management. Provide technical support for the ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers in customer communications during project delivery. Track activities to project plans and budgets, regularly reporting to the ISS Delivery Manager, ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers on progress as requiredRaise purchase requisitions for all project materials. Provide technical support for procurement, production and quality throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely response to action items. Liason with Production team, lead issue resolution, report progress to ISS Technical Manager and ISS Project Managers during build / manufactoring phases. Provide support to SQE and Quality team as required to resolve quality issues, including raising formal request , fault finding and test support. Support engineering design as required by the project. Support the business in providing information to aid the creation of proposals as required. Lead testing and commissioning of equipment working with the Test Technicians and Commissioning Engineers as required by the project. Support Site Engineers throughout off site work with provision of information, materials and liason with internal resources. Ensure project activities are delivered as defined by the project manager, including ensuring design reviews are held, FMEAs are conducted and appropriate test plans are in place.General activities
Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence. Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date. Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public. Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential
HND or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering or related subjectExperience of working in a Mechanical / Systems engineering enviornmentFlexiblity, enthusiasm, self-motivated and able to work well under own initiativeAble to build long-term successful client partnerships, both internally and externallyStrong communication skillsDecision-making / problem solving skillsStrong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presentedDesirable
Experience of working on multiply projectsPractical competence in mechanical / systems assemblyKnowledge of BS. 8888 drawing practicesExperience of working within a Defence environmentPrevious experience of an ERP systemKnowledge of ISO9000 or a similar QA systemRole travel requirements
The duties of this appointment relate to the UK but you may be required to travel when required by the Company. It is not envisaged that you shall be required to work outside the UK for more than one month.Other requirements
