Our role is the focal point for all engineering activities related to In-Service Support Projects and Spares, working directly with the ISS Delivery Director. We support and collaborate with ISS Project Managers to ensure the product meets the specifications of the Product/Project.
Purpose of the Role
This role is accountable for all In-Service Support project deliveries. With the growth of the product install base, in-service customer support and satisfaction are crucial to ensure successful growth. This role leads, coaches, and develops the ISS Project Managers and ISS Engineers, supporting the ISS Delivery Director to deliver an exemplary support service across all customers by meeting time, cost, and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a small team of ISS Project Managers and ISS Engineers for the provision of support and contractual elements for the ISS business with revenue responsibility, accountable to the ISS Director.
- Accountable for all in-service project activities, and related customer support reporting status of projects, orders, and customer satisfaction as required.
- Write and review all project proposals within ISS, ensuring scope, financial, commercial assumptions, exclusions, and dependencies are in line with TP Group company standards.
- Provide line management of the ISS Project Managers & ISS Engineers within the ISS team.
- Support the ISS Technical Manager in engineering requirements/tasks as needed.
- Manage the UK MOD Support contract (approx. £[insert amount]).
- Front customers on project delivery schedules as required, supporting the ISS PMs.
- Work with the ISS Director and ISS Technical Manager to support the development and implementation of effective in-service support strategies and plans in line with the overall business strategy and contracts.
- Ensure robust contractual and project baselines, and effective control management is adopted to manage change effectively and deliver an appropriate level of business management reporting.
- Drive the ISS PM/PE to be proactive and work closely with Operations and production teams to ensure planning and delivery to customer requirements.
- Promote best practice, support, and develop the team to maximize efficiency and effective delivery.
- Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), contract metrics, risk, and opportunities, optimization, and budget control.
- Customer management and reporting of availability and maintenance contracts.
- Manage customer change requests arising from in-service requests through customer and internal change management process.
- Identify risks to the contracts and work on the appropriate strategies for risk management.
- Monitor customer feedback and equipment performance to identify improvements.
- Work with a broad stakeholder group across global prime contractors and users in the Defence Industry in order to provide effective stakeholder management.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence others, including building and maintaining effective relationships with multiple stakeholders both internal and external.
- Proven track record of managing contracts/projects to Time Cost Quality.
- Attention to detail, forward planning, and budgeting/financial knowledge.
- Working knowledge of risk and opportunity management and lessons learned processes.
- Commercial and business management awareness.
- Marine/Shipbuilding/Ship Repair/OEM background highly advantageous.
- Understanding of Matrix Management.
The duties of this appointment relate to the UK but you may be required to travel when required by the Company.
