ABOUT SCTS

We are an independent body providing administrative support to the Scottish Courts, devolved Tribunals and the Office of the Public Guardian. We are now looking for a qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA) to join our busy team. The Senior Financial Accountant will be directly responsible to the Head of Financial Accounting and will perform a key strategic role, working with other members of the Finance and Procurement team, to deliver efficient and effective financial accounting to the Scottish Courts & Tribunals Service (SCTS) and its stakeholders.

You will have a key role in the management of the SCTS annual report and accounts process including audit compliance. You will be maintaining and developing the capital asset management framework. You will be providing assurance to senior leadership on application and compliance to the capital policy. You will be providing technical advice to the unit and wider business.

You may have line management responsibilities for 1 member of staff and will take a proactive role in supporting the effective performance of the Financial Accounting Team.

Key responsibilities will include

Annual Report and Accounts

Manage the planning, preparation and delivery of the SCTS annual report and accounts.

Liaise with external auditors to meet audit deliverables.

Capital management

Management of non-current asset register

Review and maintenance of the capital policy and guidance to ensure continued compliance with accounting standards.

Assurance reporting to senior management.

Budgeting and forecasting for depreciation and lease accounting.

Technical Guidance and Advice

Provide advice and guidance on the application of accounting standards applicable in SCTS.

Update and maintain guidance and policies to comply with development of accounting standards.
