About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our team at Transport Scotland. As a key member of our Finance and Corporate Services Directorate, you will play a critical role in providing strategic financial leadership and technical accounting advice to support the agency's operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of the Annual Report and Accounts, ensuring timely and accurate delivery in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial management and technical accounting advice to support the agency's budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain effective financial controls, including fraud and risk mitigation, to ensure the integrity of our financial systems.
  • Lead a small team of financial professionals, inspiring and motivating them to achieve excellence in their work.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders, including senior managers and external partners.
  • Contribute to the Finance team's continuous improvement work stream, ensuring we are ready for new systems and processes.

Requirements

  • CCAB qualification with up-to-date CPD.
  • Strong finance experience, with the ability to provide high-quality advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Effective management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong background in financial accounting, finance business partnering, or management accounting.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time role, with hybrid working arrangements in place. You will be expected to be office-based twice per week, pro rata.
