Could you be the full-time Test and Validation Technician in Derby we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your testing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to David Cox (Head of Software TCMS and Train Control Manager, Derby), and work alongside other members of the Services Central Engineering team. The role will be to manage all aspects of TCMS testing of software.
We’ll look to you for:
- Collecting the inputs for Test means configurations and analyse their quality
- Test means applicable configuration definition
- Train LV schematics
- Train equipment models
- Traction system model
- TCMS software and associated deliverables (ICD)
- Generate the configurations for the Test means
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tools: LV modeling, equipment modeling, configuration tools
- Support test execution
- Compile & sustain the standard documentation for configuration generation
- Support deployment and animation of Test means performance KPI

Mandatory:
- Recognised electrical apprenticeship level 3 or above.
- Previous experience working within a test laboratory environment.
- Understanding of Electrical Codes & Regulations
- Experience of conducting electrical testing and inspections
- Experience of installing, repairing and maintaining industrial (electrical) equipment
Desirable:
- Experience of Aventra platform.
- Experience with Test Rack construction
- Experience of LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedure
- Multi-skilled with electrical bias
- Knowledge & Experience of Digital Communications
Competencies & Skills :
- Fault Finding analysis / Problem Solving
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and other technical documents
- Knowledge and Use of Hand Tools
- Ability to form electrical and digital cabling, connectors / connections
- I.T. Skills
- Good report writing and verbal communications
