The role

A position has become available for a Diagnostic Radiographer to join our friendly and supportive Medical Imaging team at the University of Exeter in a developmental academic post working in our research active group. You will be based at the idyllic St Luke’s Campus, which houses Medical Imaging and our facilities including DR, US scanners, DXA scanners and pQCT. The University also has a 3T MRI scanner and PET/CT scanner housed on the nearby hospital site.

This post may interest radiographers from a wide range of backgrounds who wish to move into academia, gaining experience of teaching whilst undertaking research training in the form of PhD. This post comes with an associated fully funded part-time PhD studentship. You will be expected to split your time across five days, with two days per week spent on your PhD and three days per week teaching or undertaking work to support teaching or students. 

Responsibilities will include teaching modules on our pre-registration Radiography programmes under the supervision of experienced academics. This role involves lecturing, running practical / clinical skills sessions, providing pastoral care and tutorial support to undergraduate students and undertaking academic administrative duties as required. Opportunities will be provided to support your research and educational development. 

About you

For an Associate Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a MSc or equivalent qualification/experience; core knowledge relating to Diagnostic Radiography in order to teach and support learning on Diagnostic Radiography modules.
  • Staff at this level are expected to achieve Associate Fellow of the HEA within two years of appointment (if not already achieved) and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
  • Meet the criteria to be enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Exeter.

The starting salary will be from £32,332 to £38,205 on Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience.
