This is a career enhancing opportunity for an ambitious Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, with a specialist head & neck oncology and reconstructive interest, to join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. It's not just an outstanding post to accelerate your clinical & leadership skills, it's your chance to join our friendly OMFS team & be at the heart of the enormous transformation of North Manchester General Hospital, the primary base for this role.

At NMGH, we're creating a state-of-the-art health campus. Based on a radical re-design & investment, with 70% of the estate being rebuilt, the hospital will sit at the heart of a site comprising a series of hubs. These will include wellbeing, healthy neighbourhood, residential community, mental health, sustainable transport & more. Your Consultancy role will be clinically vital, but you'll be a high-profile expert in an organisation with a more far-reaching impact - boosting the life expectancy of local people & acting as a catalyst programme for the city's future prosperity.

You'll join a skilled team working closely with Head and Neck Surgeons across our North & South Manchester sites & be part of shaping our future as NMGH becomes the hub of Head & Neck Services for the 3.5 million population of Greater Manchester.

Offered with 10 Pas, there are opportunities to pursue research, teaching & specialist interests at a tertiary level. Let us tell you a little more about the attitude and skills we're looking for.

Main duties of the job

You'll provide outstanding clinical leadership across NMGH, and outreach sites, delivering highly personalised care alongside developing your skills in clinical research to advance the field of oral maxillofacial surgery. Through postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, you'll have obtained the Intercollegiate Exit FRC (OMFS) to provide surgical interventions for various oral and maxillofacial procedures, such as dental implants, orthognathic surgeries, TMJ disorders, facial trauma, and facial reconstructive surgeries. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including dentists, orthodontists, radiologists, and anaesthesiologists, ensuring optimal patient care and treatment outcomes for patients and have a direct impact on the lives of thousands of people across Manchester and beyond. Resilient and ambitious, your values will mirror our own with the drive and flexibility to operate at pace and shape the future of our service. You'll be forward thinking and innovative, staying up to date with the latest developments in oral maxillofacial surgery, techniques, and treatment modalities. With a vibrant 'can do' attitude you'll teach, mentor, and supervise of residents, fellows, and medical students to develop the next generation of OMFS specialist
