King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood are looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative department leader for the social sciences with an excellent track record, to play an intrinsic role in our new all-through academy in Bracknell Forest.  

The unique aspects of this role are:

  1. Social Sciences are highly valued by the school and students.
  2. Strong focus on teacher development, with subject specific CPD offered to all
  3. Team planning time included in the timetable.
  4. Collaborative teaching resources fully shared amongst staff, allowing personalisation while reducing workload.
  5. Opportunities to keep shaping the curriculum, including our KS5 offer, in line with our values of social science rigour and diversity.
  6. Work in a setting with 1:1 devices, allowing students to extend their learning experiences. 

    The successful candidate will have responsibility for the strategic leadership of social sciences across both academies; ensuring outstanding teaching leads to outstanding outcomes. They will work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team.

    We welcome applications from candidates specialising in Business, Economics, Health and Social Care, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology or Politics. Applicants should be excellent classroom teachers and have the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff and students to excel. The successful candidate will show great leadership potential, will be a team player, will get stuck in and involve themselves in the wider aspects of academy life. A genuine commitment to our ‘whatever it takes’ ethos is essential to enable every young person at KAB and KAO to thrive.

    KAB and KAO are part of the King’s Group Academies MAT, led by a team of former and current Ofsted ‘outstanding’ head teachers and Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI).
