Data Centre Migration Engineer

Sheffield, UK

 

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Migration Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing large-scale data centre migration projects.

 

Responsibilities
1.    Plan and execute migrations of data centre assets from one location to another.
2.    Familiar with circuit ordering and DWDM deployments 
3.    Familiar with Nexus 7k / Cisco 6500 environments and (possibly arista but not essential)
4.    Coordinate with various teams to ensure minimal downtime during migration.
5.    Develop and maintain detailed project plans for data centre migrations.
6.    Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues associated with the migration.
7.    Document and report on the progress of the migration project.
8.    Ensure all necessary compliance and security measures are upheld during the migration.
9.    Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the migration process.

 

Skills

1.    Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure and operations. Experience in designing, planning and executing datacentre moves and migrations

2.    Experience with project management and coordination.
3.    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
4.    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5.    Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
6.    Knowledge of IT compliance and data security standards.

 

Qualifications

1.    Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field or equivalent experience.
2.    Proven experience in a similar role involving data centre migrations.
3.    Certifications in project management or relevant IT fields would be advantageous
