The post holder will work in collaboration with Heads of Departments and other members of College to develop and manage a program of risk assessments to ensure risks are identified, managed and reduced and follow up action is risk focused, prioritised and implemented. They will advise and instruct Heads of Departments to ensure that they understand their responsibilities for managing the Health and Safety by providing advice for safe working practices, guidance, and training and information. The post holder will regularly review policies and procedures to ensure they are current and fit for purpose; ensure that all required tests, inspections and maintenance servicing is carried out to all plant and equipment as required by law to achieve full compliance, ensuring that records are held for future reference; develop and maintain the incident reporting process.

The role also involves investigating and reporting on and recording all accidents, near misses and related incidents – including diseases and dangerous occurrences; this includes control and manager asbestos matters and the asbestos register; together with all fire safety matters within college. The post holder will support and assist projects with CDM requirements and introduce project scopes to ensure contractors know what is required of them. They will provide technical help & support where required, or have the understanding of where to guide people to.

You will be a highly experienced Health and Safety Manager, who is qualified to NEBOSH level. You will also have current relevant or equivalent NEBOSH fire and safety; together with CDM qualifications (although training can be provided if required). You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. You will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You will enjoy:

  • Holiday entitlement is 25 days plus 8 bank and public holidays. A car parking space may be available, subject to capacity.
