The Role and the Department

As Sustainability Coordinator (Staff), you will provide a key role in engaging with the staff community at Durham University with issues around sustainability, from energy conservation to seasonal food, fast fashion to hedgehog friendly campus.

You will be responsible for developing and managing the Staff Environment Champion Network, which comprises staff representatives from the Colleges, Faculties, Departments and Schools, and developing, supporting and implementing environmental initiatives amongst the staff community.

You will work alongside Sustainability Champions to promote campaigns and events for staff, as well as working with experienced Sustainability Managers to meet and exceed our sustainability ambitions.

The Energy and Sustainability team works to develop sustainability across the University, leading on areas including energy, waste, water, travel, biodiversity and helping the University community reduce impact in everything it does. This helps the University fulfil its vision to ensure that we deliver our mission of excellence in education, research and wider student experience in the most sustainable way possible.

The Estates and Facilities Directorate provides a range of essential services to Durham University and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.
