About The Role

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor / Barrister with significant advocacy skills, to join our team in the new role of Disciplinary Officer. 

This role has been introduced to support the transformation of judicial processes implemented as a result of our Heart of Aquatics action plan, and in response to the Sport Resolutions report completed by Louis Weston in 2023.

Reporting to the Director of Legal, this role will sit within the Legal Directorate, with the primary purpose of representing Swim England as the Disciplinary Officer in accordance with Swim England’s regulations. Key responsibilities include:

Represent Swim England before any person, body or panel established under the Judicial Regulations, and/or Safeguarding Regulations, The preparation and delivery of sound legal argument to support representation, Creation of legal documents to support any evidence provided on behalf of Swim England. Preparation of legal bundles, Investigate any direct referrals made to them for serious misconduct and decide whether to bring a complaint on behalf of Swim England.

Download the Job Description to see the full scope of the role, and person specification.   The role is based at our head office in SportPark, Loughborough, Leicestershire with the ability for home working.   As this is a new role, we envisage the working hours to be approx. 28 hours per week, including evening and weekend working to facilitate hearings and meetings. About You   In order to be shortlisted for the next stage in the process you must demonstrate within your application how you meet the following essential criteria:

Recognised professional qualification as a solicitor or barrister Demonstrates significant advocacy experience Experience within judicial processes Experience of managing cases and preparing legal bundles
