We are looking for an enthusiastic, determined and innovative person to join a dedicated and talented team. Food Technology is a popular and well-resourced subject within the school and we are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher who can further improve the provision of the subject.

As a consistently good - outstanding teacher, you will have a proven track record of teaching high quality lessons across the ability range for 11–16-year-old children. You will be responsible for planning and delivering an innovative high-quality technology curriculum and further develop resource and extra-curricular activities. Our aim, quite simply, is to make sure that every child, in every lesson, every day is achieving excellence.

The Teacher of Food Technology will work closely with the Curriculum Leader to ensure success for every child. We are looking to recruit a teacher, who is ideally able to offer a second technology subject, but not essential. You will be a talented and inspirational teacher who has a strong desire to make a difference in student’s lives.

The outcomes in the technology department are excellent and the team constantly seek new ways to improve and develop innovative practice.

We are looking to appoint a colleague who will:

Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge pupils in order for them to excel academicallyHave relentlessly high expectations of themselves and pupilsHave excellent subject knowledgeBe willing to teach across the full age range of pupils; year 7 to year 11Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the department and wider school through sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active participation in continuing professional studies programmeTeach a standard timetable allocationMake a positive contribution to the efficient running of the department, including, setting and marking examinations, attending departmental meetings and undertaking administrative and other tasks as delegated by the Curriculum LeaderActively safeguard and promote the welfare of childrenSupport the schools’ aims and objectives for teaching and learningAdhere to and promote all school policies and procedures

Person Specification:

·        Good level degree in a directly related subject (desirable)

·        Thorough knowledge of the (13-16) subject Curriculum (GCSE)

·        Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience

·        Awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice

·        Good level of IT literacy

·        Be capable of delivering inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of pupils at the school

·        Be able to demonstrate a positive and authoritative rapport with pupils

·        Excellent and effective classroom management skills

·        Have excellent communication skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors

·        Be organised and self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines
