Job Description:

Based in Birmingham, the Sales Engineer, Sheet Piling & Foundation Solutions, will be instrumental in driving the profitable sales of Steel sheet piling and foundation products. As a vital member of the team, you will provide engineered foundation solutions, expert development, and technical support to the UK construction industry and foundations sector. This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, sales skills, and industry experience to promote and grow product adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a small, dedicated team to positively influence construction decision-makers in specifying the company’s products.

• Develop and enhance relationships with key customers, organisations, and individuals within the construction industry to ensure the company’s products are highly regarded.

• Maintain and improve an effective monitoring system for construction projects with potential product content, ensuring profitable sales opportunities are maximised.

• Provide expert-level support in piling and foundation design and application to the UK construction sector.

• Ensure the company’s interests are looked after in the development of new piling and foundation design codes in the UK and Europe.

• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of competitors’ products (steel and other materials) to identify potential threats and opportunities.

• Assist in the implementation of research and development programmes led by the group, to counter threats and exploit opportunities.

• Support the market introduction of new products, solutions, and services to maximise the company’s profitable product content.

• Ensure that responsibilities under relevant regulations are implemented and applied within your areas of responsibility.

• Visit customers and key stakeholders to build and maintain trusting relationships.

• Participate in seminars and technical conferences, providing presentations and technical knowledge to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree (MEng) or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Preferably a graduate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers working towards Chartered Status.

• A postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering is desirable.

• Experience within the UK construction industry, particularly in sheet piling applications, is advantageous.

• Operational civil engineering site experience, particularly in piling, preferably gained in the UK, is desirable.

• Proficiency in piling and foundation design, with experience using design software tools such as ReWaRD, WALLAP, and AMRetain.

• Comfort working in a small commercial team and a sales environment.

• Ability to create and maintain a network with all stakeholders to stay informed about project developments.

• Capability to represent the company on technical and marketing committees in the UK and overseas.

• Strong presentation skills, with the ability to deliver CPD-level presentations on technical, marketing, and promotional topics to large audiences of construction professionals.

• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of an additional European language (French or German) would be advantageous but is not essential.

• A clean, full UK or EU driving licence is required.
