Job Summary

East Dunbartonshire Council are looking to appoint a trainee personal care assistant as part of a Scottish Government funded work experience programme.

Candidate should have an understanding of a good work ethic. Be willing to work with others as part of a team. Assist in working in households of vulnerable individuals to provide high quality intimate personal care. Enabling practical support for people that assists them to remain in their own homes which supports independence and maximises individual's potential, delivering care and support to service users in accordance with their care plan whilst protecting them from harm.

Assisting in a range of practical and routine housing support tasks such as preparing fires/ensuring heating or hot water is working, cleaning, laundry, preparing and cooking meals, assist users by feeding were necessary; shopping, collecting pensions, prescriptions, paying bills, purchasing goods on behalf of service users within departmental guidelines, enabling users to maintain contacts in potentially isolating situations

They should have a genuine interest and use this opportunity to gain essential experience. Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided. The preferred candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

This is a temporary role for 6 months for those who are parents with dependent children with barriers to employment or unemployed for 12 months or more with barriers to employment. Vacancies conditional dependant on Funding.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

East Dunbartonshire Council will meet the cost of the check.
