The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body for football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels and with footballers of all abilities; from grassroots through to the professional game. The FA is responsible for the FA Cup, Women's Super League, and all the England teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park. The Role

The Football Association is seeking to appoint up to four independent members onto its Disability Committee to give specific input and advice on all matters relating to disability football, as well as inclusion, equality, and diversity.

The FA Disability Committee reports directly to the FA Board and has delegated authority to manage disability football from the grassroots level of the game up to its international squads. This includes supporting the development and implementation of the new FA four year disability football strategy and decisions on how funding allocated by The FA is spent and distributed within disability football.

The Committee through its diverse membership and the advocacy of those members seeks to work with the executive to develop the sport and influence the decisions of other committees to increase inclusion of disabled people in all aspects of the game. It plays an important role in supporting gifted players achieve their potential at international level, including hosting high quality competitions and seeking to increase awareness of the game through broadcast partners.

Independent members have full status at Committee Meetings and will be encouraged to air their views as equal members. They will have a full vote when any decisions need to be taken.

The Disability Committee comprises up to 12 members, including representatives from the different stakeholder groups within the National and Professional Game on The FA Council. The independent members we are looking to appoint do not have to be a current FA Council Member and should bring their own knowledge and experience of disability across sport with, preferably, complementary skills from those of the existing FA Council Members.

These include but are not limited to the following,

Particularly working with people with disabilities Public Affairs - general network and sphere of influence with organisations and bodies that support and champion people with disabilities

We would also value interest from people with lived experience of disability, either their own experience or through working with people with disabilities including a partner, family or friends or in a professional capacity

What we are looking for

A passion for disability football, with skills, knowledge and experience derived from an active involvement in this level of the game. Expertise and first hand knowledge of developing opportunities for elite and talented athletes A broad knowledge of the issues and challenges facing disability sport. A specific understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion matters. The ability to scrutinise and challenge in a positive and constructive manner. The ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with others (including fellow Committee Members, FA Staff, and colleagues from across the football family). A willingness to act in the best interests of The FA without regard to personal interest or benefit.

Time Commitment

The Committee meets 4 times a year - Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. Meetings are usually held on a weekday at Wembley Stadium although meetings may also be held virtually through Microsoft Teams. The successful candidates will be appointed for terms ranging from 2 to 4 years.

An allowance of £105 can be claimed for each meeting attended in person, with travel and subsistence expenses payable in addition.
