We are currently recruiting for a Legal Analyst (Non-qualified lawyer, Paralegal, recent law graduate) to join the Equity Derivatives legal group for a internatioal investmemnt bank. The role will be based in Glasgow and will be hybrid with 50% remote per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Index Documentation and Review:
    • Assist in reviewing and negotiating documentation related to index calculations, rebalancing algorithms, and other ancillary documents.
    • Prepare detailed comments for internal approval committee meetings on new indices, composition changes, and error rectifications.
    • Participate in committee meetings to determine necessary actions and process improvements.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    • Negotiate contracts with third parties for actively managed indices.
    • Support senior team members in updating master documentation and templates.
  • Regulatory Consultation and Advice:
    • Provide assistance on EU and UK regulatory consultations, including topics like sustainability and greenwashing.
    • Handle queries from various stakeholders under appropriate supervision.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Help identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and manage legal risks effectively.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Build strong working relationships within the EQD&CE team to support and drive business performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background:
    • Recent graduate or professional in law, finance, economics, or related fields.
    • University degree indicating the ability to understand and apply complex concepts.
  • Knowledge and Interest Areas:
    • Basic knowledge of derivatives is helpful; keen interest in learning about various asset classes and their derivatives is essential.
    • Understanding of ESG, sustainability, EU/UK regulations, and IOSCO Principles related to indices.
  • Technical and Analytical Skills:
    • Strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks based on shifting business needs.
    • Proficiency in standard software (Microsoft Office, Sharepoint) and an interest in generative AI tools.
  • Communication and Research:
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to conduct thorough research and apply legal and regulatory knowledge effectively.
  • Teamwork and Autonomy:
    • Capable of working both independently and as part of a cross-disciplinary team.
