Working as a skilled multitasker, trouble-shooter, and safety-focused Electrician  for Sodexo at Northumbria University Student Living in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, your knowledge will be essential to our efforts to improve operational excellence.

What you'll do:

  • Carry out electrical PPM and reactive repairs as required.
  • Basic electrical repairs such as changing lamps (including emergency lights), battery replacement, and safety inspections of e/m lighting systems
  • To work closely with and support the technical team as required.
  • To support the front-of-house team with room inspections and to engage with events as required.
  • Robustly manage all sub-contractors and suppliers under your remit to ensure seamless performance. 
  • Ensure value for money across all areas of the operation.

What you bring:

  • A recognised apprenticeship or HNC in an Electrical Engineering discipline with a commitment to undergo continuing professional development
  • Skilled in hands-on' maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a range of plant and equipment and capable of anticipating potential faults or problems that may occur within the full range of building services
  • Ability to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision and use of own initiative
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly, especially under pressure and in emergency situations
  • Flexible approach, ability to request and offer support from other team members as required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills
  • Experience using databases, spread sheets, and other computer-based applications, including Microsoft Office
  • A working knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of PPM maintenance systems (SFG20 and PAS55)
  • Experienced in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
