About the Role
The main purpose of the job is to conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Sofia Collignon within the project "Response to Violence Against Women Mayors in the United States (VAWUS)." This research aims to understand the consequences of violence against women mayors, assess the effectiveness of interventions to mitigate such violence, design interventions and responses, and address issues of diversity in politics.

The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, contributing to cutting-edge research at the intersection of gender, politics, and governance, and generating insights to inform policy and practice in addressing violence against women in leadership positions. The postdoctoral assistant will have the opportunity to develop research skills, enhance their academic profile, and make a meaningful impact on societal challenges.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess a PhD or be nearing completion, or alternatively, demonstrate research qualifications or experience equivalent to PhD level in the relevant subject area for the research programme.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and knowledge:

  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research analysis, including proficiency in analysing text and survey data.
  • Familiarity with the study of political elites.
  • A strong understanding of the research process and knowledge of appropriate research protocols.
  • Proven experience in planning and delivering work assignments according to agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Proficiency in report-writing, adapting writing styles and approaches to suit diverse audiences.
  • Competence in collating, maintaining, and utilising datasets to produce, interpret, and present data reports and analysis.

About the School
Join us at the School of Politics and International Relations, an intellectually stimulating hub for research. The successful candidate will join our project, "Response to Violence Against Women Mayors in the United States (VAWUS)," funded by the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and bolstered by faculty collaboration with the Democracy Club. This initiative explores the intersection of elite politics, gender, and public safety, aiming to shape policy and practice in combatting violence against women in leadership roles. As a postdoctoral assistant on this project, you'll contribute to cutting-edge research alongside leading scholars and practitioners. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in impactful academic research, collaborating closely with renowned faculty and stakeholders.
