A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Executive Housekeeping Manager

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Operations Manager, The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the hotel's housekeeping department. They are responsible for ensuring that guest rooms and common areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet the established standards for quality and service. Additionally, this role requires active engagement in liaising and managing relationships with third-party partners to support the hotel's housekeeping operations.

you can expect your working day to include the following.

Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise housekeeping staff, including room attendants, housekeepers, and laundry staff. Create schedules, assign duties, and provide guidance to ensure efficient operations. Quality Control: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas. Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with established cleaning procedures. Inventory Management: Manage and order cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities. Monitor inventory levels and ensure cost-effective usage. Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the department's budget. Control expenses, labor costs, and other operational costs. Guest Service: Address guest concerns and requests related to housekeeping services promptly and professionally. Strive to enhance the guest experience. Third-Party Partner Relations: Establish and maintain positive relationships with third-party partners providing housekeeping-related services or supplies. Coordinate with partners to ensure the smooth flow of resources and support for the department. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and hotel policies. Train staff on safety procedures and the use of cleaning equipment. Reporting: Maintain records of housekeeping activities, including room occupancy, cleaning schedules, and maintenance work. Generate reports for management as needed. Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for housekeeping staff. Foster a positive and efficient working environment. Communication: Collaborate with other departments, such as front office and maintenance, to ensure seamless hotel operations. Communicate any maintenance or repair needs promptly.

To succeed in the role of Executive Housekeeping Manager, you will need the following qualities and skills. 

Previous experience in housekeeping management in a hotel or similar establishment. Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and materials. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle guest complaints effectively. Demonstrated ability to manage and nurture relationships with third-party partners.
