Reporting to the Head of Procurement and Property, the Procurement Manager (Indirects) leads and delivers all indirect procurement activities for the client, setting up and driving the procurement strategy in line with best practice. Value creation is a key aspect of this role, with the role holder ensuring that the client receives value for money across the Indirects spend base.

  1. Lead, motivate and develop a value-focused team of Procurement professionals, ensuring they are engaged, performance managed and developed so they perform to their full potential.
  2. Lead on the development of the strategy and implementation plan for all indirect procurement to ensure the clients is equipped to deliver on operational duties and requirements.
  3. Support the client's business to plan for and develop future requirements, using this insight to influence and contribute to business procurement strategy.
  4. Drive value creation across the procured spend base through mechanisms such as volume leverage, quality, forecasting efficiency, supplier innovation, non-traditional markets and optioneering, to ensure client receives value for money.
  5. Deliver a portfolio of strategic sourcing events within category groups, identifying the best sourcing strategies and leading events from market engagement through to award.
  6. Develop insights to input into the category management planning process through research and analysis of supply markets and other characteristics of the indirect procurement market; keep up to date with developments and emerging supplier trends.
  7. Report on spend performance to provide a holistic picture of procurement activity.
  8. Ensure risks are anticipated, identified, and mitigated to prevent any disruptions to timely procurement delivery.

9 Ensure a systematic approach to managing spend across all client's procurement is adopted, in line with the direction from the Head of Procurement and Property.

10, Maintain knowledge of the clients policies and frameworks for contract and supplier management, ensuring the team's activity is compliant with the relevant processes, and

  • Previous experience of understanding, identifying, and executing multiple opportunities across a range of spend categories to deliver value.
  • Supply chain management experience in complex environments.
  • Track record of driving value beyond straightforward procurement savings; usage of lean techniques to identify and eliminate waste and identify income opportunities in the extended value chain.
  • Expert influencing and negotiation skills to drive optimum value through the award of commercially sound contracts.
  • Experience in managing and motivating small teams of professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; able to communicate dynamically at all levels and externally to senior leaders within supplier organisations.
  • Ability to understand broader business objectives and their implications for strategic planning in Procurement.

Educated to Degree level / equivalent relevant experience.

Relevant professional qualification (e.g., MCIPS) or equivalent experience.
