Edinburgh, United Kingdom The University of Edinburgh Full time

Full time - 35 hours per week

Fixed term contract - 12 months

The opportunity:

We are seeking a strong administrator with proven communication skills to take the administrative lead on OPENspace, one of Edinburgh College of Art’s core Research Centres. This 12-month maternity cover combines administrative coordination of the MHR-funded Groundswell Consortium, with day-to-day operational and financial support for the OPENspace Centre. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the Centre Director to take a strategic overview of the Centre’s activities and future plans, including opportunities for future funding.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for flexible and/or hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • High degree of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail (particularly in maintaining financial data and assisting in costing activities for grant applications).
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills: ability to exercise judgement and initiative to work without direct supervision and prioritise own work within the annual cycle and in response to academic driven developments.
  • Ability to quickly master new systems and processes and to sustain a high performance whilst under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal competence,
  • Strong IT skills and ability to quickly learn to use a range of packages including non-standard systems, such as PURE (REF submission) and Worktribe (grant preparation and maintenance).
