Locum Junior Housing Disrepair Lawyer – London - £45-50 per hour – Hybrid Working

Position: Junior Housing Disrepair Lawyer

Organisation: London based Local Authority

Duration: 6 months +

Working Pattern: Full Time

Working Arrangement: 1 day per week office attendance

Hourly Rate: £50 umbrella per hour

Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team have collaborated with a forward thinking and dynamic Local Authority based in Greater London to assist in their search to recruit a Junior Housing Disreair Lawyer on a locum basis

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior lawyer who is looking to gain their first assignment in Local Government or looking to expand on their previous experience. The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEx however applicants with substantial experience but no qualification will be considered for this role

Duties shall include:

  1. Legal Proceedings: Conduct both straightforward and complex legal proceedings related to housing matters and community safety. Handle Pre-Action respondents for Disrepair. Provide legal advice and support on housing and community safety issues. Conduct case work across all levels of court, including issuing and defending proceedings on behalf of the Council.
  2. Case Management: Manage case work with a focus on strategic case management to ensure cost-effectiveness. Provide expert advice and assistance on the law and practice relating to housing and community safety.
  3. Advisory and Representation: Represent the Council in meetings with other authorities, government departments, and other bodies. Assist in the development of policies related to housing and community safety.
  4. Training and Development: Assist in identifying training needs for clients related to housing and community safety. Participate in the provision of appropriate training for clients.

This role comes with an hourly rate of £45-50 per hour and gives a Junior Housing Lawyer a unique opportunity to commence with a locum contract in local government and develop and learn all aspects of the role. Prior experience is desirable but not essential and for candidates without a current practicing certificate substantial experience is required
