This role adds to the patients experience by providing a high-quality cleaning and catering service. The aim will be to ensure a clean safe environment and catering provision for clients, of which in-house training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the patient rooms, public areas, back of house areas such as linen room and laundry areas, according to Trust policy and procedures at a level that meets or exceeds National Cleanliness standards. 

The successful candidate needs to be a team player who will be flexible and reliable, with good interpersonal and communication skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post involves shift working including lates, earlies, weekends, and bank holidays over a rolling rota, whereby weekend and banks holidays are paid at an enhanced rate.

You may be asked to work extra so flexibility is required.

  • Some knowledge of cleaning chemicals.

  • Basic cleaning skills.

  • To demonstrate an interest in learning /further training.

  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively with people who have mental health concerns.
  • An understanding of the principles of delivering quality customer service.
  • Flexible.
  • All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
