Payments Strategy Consultant

‼️ Please note that this role is a 12-week consultancy (FTC) with the potential to extend. It is hybrid, with some face-to-face meetings required in our London office. Depending on the consultant’s availability, we expect a commitment of 3–5 days per week. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of race, ethnicity, or nationality. 🚀 About the position: You will provide strategic insight and market evaluation to determine the best markets and use cases for Concordium to tackle within the payments domain. You will not be building full payment systems, but rather acting as a subject-matter expert: evaluating market size, competitive dynamics, partner ecosystems (including fiat and crypto payments), regulatory regimes, and recommending a go-to-market strategy aligned with our blockchain-led product roadmap. 📋 Key Responsibilities Conduct a comprehensive market assessment and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, new business opportunities, and areas for market expansion within the blockchain payments landscape. Provide guidance on payment strategies for Concordium-based payment solutions across the fintech and enterprise sectors. Map out relevant partner-opportunities (wallets, exchanges, dApps). Identify regulatory, compliance and operational implications of entering payments in key jurisdictions (e.g., UK, EU, US, APAC), including crypto-payments. Build a business case for clients to utilise Concordium infrastructure for faster, more efficient payment solutions, potentially including the use of stablecoins (e.g., USDC). Liaise with leadership (CTO, CCO, COO), product and engineering to align payments-entry strategy with our blockchain roadmap and platform capabilities. Produce a clear deliverable: a strategic roadmap document that outlines market opportunity, partner ecosystem, go-to-market approach, business case, risk profile, and recommended next steps for internal hires and build-out. 🎯 Required Experience & Skills 8+ years of experience in payments and adjacent sectors (Financial Services, FinTech, Stablecoins, Trade Finance etc.) or digital payments strategy roles. Demonstrated track record of strategic market assessment, business case development, partner/ ecosystem analysis (for payments and adjacent sectors or fintech). Experience with blockchain / Web3 ecosystems, tokenisation, or stablecoins is highly desirable. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management: able to present to senior leadership, translate technical/financial concepts, and influence across product, tech, and commercial teams. Good knowledge of regulatory and compliance environments for payments and/or crypto (e.g., payment services regulation, AML/KYC, digital assets regulation). Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment: autonomous, pragmatic, able to deliver high-impact output quickly. Management Consulting, Startup/Scaleup Experience is a big plus, but not required. 🏢 About Concordium We’re not just another blockchain; we’re the blockchain that offers a unique identity layer at the protocol level to ensure verified and private user interactions enabled via zero-knowledge proof technology. Founded in 2018, the research-backed chain enables Smart Money with programmable protocol-level tokens, advanced PayFi features like time releases and compliance controls, and secure ID-based geofencing for cross-border transactions, making it the chain of choice for enterprise-ready stablecoins looking for real-world adoption.
