Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) operates across the whole of Scotland and its many islands, flying paramedic and/or doctor-led teams to the scene of serious injury or illness and airlifting patients on to appropriate hospital care. As part of an ongoing strategy of development SCAA is looking for a motivated, focussed and committed individual to join our community fundraising team.

This role is home based and responsible for community fundraising activity across the NHS Highland area in addition to the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland. Weekly video calls with the community fundraising team, wider charity team and crew will keep you connected along with regular visits to our bases in Aberdeen and Perth. SCAA also supports a flexible working pattern.

Raising the profile of the charity across the Highlands and Islands, you’ll proactively seek opportunities to engage with individuals, groups and companies while ensuring anyone fundraising for SCAA has the best experience possible. Using your strong relationship building skills you’ll draw on the support of our volunteers to attend community events, talks and presentations across the area.

You’ll be part of an ambitious team, passionate about providing an exceptional supporter journey and developing long-term support for the charity.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION

  • Reports directly to Community Fundraising Manager
  • Part of the Community Fundraising Team 
  • Line management of volunteers within region
  • No direct staff line management but will work closely with the charity team and volunteers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Develop and build relationships within the local community to meet objectives
  • Successfully organise and deliver fundraising events within the region and attend events as required
  • Identify, develop and analyse opportunities to maximise local fundraising income to meet or exceed income targets.
  • Maximise community engagement and awareness through talks and collections.
  • Recruit participants to take part in challenge events such as Kiltwalk, cycles and runs, increasing the number of SCAA supporters.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of fundraising materials and campaigns to recruit and retain SCAA supporters.
  • Ensure all community fundraising activity is targeted, planned and evaluated to meet team objectives.
  • Assist in the recruitment of volunteers and provide local leadership to the volunteer network within the region.
  • Actively promote ways for community contacts to support SCAA across income streams as appropriate, i.e. lottery, regular giving, legacies.
  • Provide high standards of support to facilitate long-term supporter relationships.
  • Manage a range of enquiries, responding quickly with a supporter-centred approach.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of a busy fundraising team, answering calls and enquiries, assisting with banking duties and distribution of materials to supporters.
  • Input and maintain information on the fundraising database.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across the charity and key partners.
  • Work effectively and efficiently to administration, communication, health and safety protocols and policies to ensure that organisational systems and procedures are implemented.
  • Abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practice as described in the Staff Handbook.
  • Treat with confidentiality any personal, private, or sensitive information about individual organisations and or schemes or staff etc.
  • Perform other associated duties as may arise, develop, or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the post.
  • Be prepared to travel throughout Scotland and occasionally beyond to meet the needs of the business.

ABOUT YOU

 

  • Have previous experience of fundraising, whether in a work or voluntary role
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build authentic and effective relationships in your region, experience of relationship building and stewardship
  • Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines, organise your time effectively, ensuring work is planned, prioritised, and organised to achieve deadlines
  • A team player adopting a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, whilst being pro-active and self-sufficient in your own right.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, confident delivering presentations to groups
  • Adhere to all fundraising regulation and best practice guidance, identify areas of development, and contribute to the Fundraising Team’s ongoing pursuit of excellence.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellence and to driving and implementing continuous improvement practices.
  • Willing to work flexibly including evenings and weekends as required
  • Have a full UK driving licence
