Adult Residential Support Worker
Are you looking for a career change, a job that 'gives back', returning to the workplace, or at the start of your career in social care - if so, we would love to hear from you
Autism Unlimited runs a dedicated adult services programme, and we are currently looking to recruit Support Workers to support individuals within our two residential settings in Crewkerne.
You must hold a full UK driving license and have access to your own car to be considered for this position.
Working hours would be 8am - 3pm or 3pm - 10pm.
This enriching role empowers the people we support to live as independently as possible and see them thrive. The people we support have their unique way of communicating, whether this be PECs boards, signalong or vocally. If you’ve not used signalong previously we have training available
As a Support Worker, your day will include engaging with the people we support by supporting with activities they are interested in, such as walking, music, puzzles or spending time in the garden. Aside from getting stuck in with activities, your day might also include helping individuals with food preparation, shopping, accessing the community, providing personal care, and administering medication.
At the heart of everything we do is promoting the independence of the person we support, and ensuring we have a relaxed, empathetic and encouraging team working with us helps us achieve this aim.
In addition to the feel good factor, other reasons to join us include…
* "Refer a friend" scheme - earn £400 per person you successfully refer
* Overtime paid at competitive rates
* Comprehensive training programme consisting of 12 weeks of in-house, on-site and online training, accompanied by shadowing, coaching and mentoring
* The opportunity to join our neurodiversity network led by colleagues to ensure the voice of neurodiverse people remains central to our thinking and decision-making
* Annual leave increases with each service year - up to 33 days
* Exclusive access to our employee portal, home to discounts on days out and hundreds of high street and online stores.
* Health cashback plan to receive money back for dental, options and other treatments
* Salary sacrifice schemes for various electrical devices and bikes and many more
* A 24 Hour Employee Assistance Programme that provides practical information and support on issues like money management, family and legal information
* The opportunity to continue your professional development with accredited qualifications once you've passed your probation period
* We also have a network of Mental Health First Aiders to provide support to you in the event you experience issues relating to your mental health.
Our commitment
We welcome applications from everyone and value diversity in our workforce. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this. We will provide candidates with disabilities with reasonable adjustments to participate in the job application or interview process. As part of our commitment to providing reasonable adjustments, please let us know if you require support to complete your application.
Autism Unlimited is an Equal Opportunities Employer committed to hiring a diverse workforce. Vacancies will be filled based on qualifications and best fit without reference to race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, marital status, veteran status, disability, age, religion or any other classification protected by law.
