Head of Curriculum, Qualifications, Assessment and Innovation
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time with consideration given to suitable candidates wishing to work part-time
Location: Working remotely with travel to Market Harborough and across the UK
Salary: c.£40-45,000 depending on the skills and experience of the appointed candidate
Pension Scheme: The post includes generous pension arrangements. Pension scheme includes 14.1% employer contribution - 5% of which can be taken as additional salary. Employee contributions default to 7% but this can be flexed.
Bonus Scheme: Bonus scheme is currently up to £1500 each August, entry is based on the completion of a full academic year (September – August).
This is likely to be a full-time appointment, though consideration will be given to suitably qualified applicants wishing to work part-time. Candidates should note the desire for part-time working on the application form. Please read the attached document for full details.
HMC – The Heads’ Conference – is a professional association of heads of the world’s leading independent schools.
A unique opportunity has arisen for an exciting new post designed to add to the HMC Education Team’s capacity to provide specialist support, leading in the areas of curriculum innovation and assessment.
This new role will support HMC Heads, and senior colleagues in HMC schools connected via the HMC networks. Working closely with the Director of Education and the HMC Education Team, the post-holder will support and contribute to the association’s on-going work, whilst focussing on matters relating to the curriculum, qualifications (including international qualifications), assessment and innovation across the key stages.
The post-holder will also work as an integral part of HMC’s team in driving forward the organisation’s strategy as it develops its internal infrastructure and operations for the future.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the lead source for information and guidance on curriculum, qualifications (including international) and assessment, and innovative projects designed to enhance the education experience for all pupils.
- Monitoring curriculum, qualifications development and assessment matters globally, scoping and delivering innovative and collaborative projects, drawing on media coverage, published reports and cross-association meetings. Ensuring members of relevant working groups, committees and the HMC networks are informed and connected, working across HMC structures as required.
- In liaison with the Director of Education, establishing/maintaining strong relationships in schools across HMC and their partner schools, with senior staff at other Heads’ Associations, and with external education organisations including Awarding Body organisations.
- Acting as secretary to HMC committees and working groups, ensuring that meetings are supported with agendas, minutes and an action list, being proactive in following up actions.
- Providing updates as appropriate across HMC’s SLT networks. Facilitating webinars as required.
- Commissioning, developing, leading and analysing surveys and research, as well as developing proposals for projects which are designed to help all schools and pupils.
- Supporting HMC Professional Development (HMCPD) events, including the HMC main conference, proposing relevant topics and themes and supporting facilitated sessions in related areas.
- Leading and supporting other aspects of HMC activity as required.
Experience of teaching in senior schools and knowledge of HMC schools is not essential but would be an advantage.
The right candidate must have:
- Detailed knowledge and experience in senior school curriculum and assessment matters and experience of providing relevant guidance to others
- An interest in and enthusiasm for the work of schools and their pupils
- Excellent academic or professional qualifications
- A high degree of personal organisation and efficiency
- Confident user of ICT including AI, digital systems and software
- Experience of delivering training within a multidisciplinary environment
- Strong commitment to the values and ethos of HMC
