Head of Data

Role: Head of Data Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE
Contract type: Full-time. Location: Bristol (hybrid) We ask all team members to come into the office at least 3 x per quarter.

You’ll set the medium and long-term vision for how we collect, model, and leverage data while also rolling up your sleeves to engineer pipelines, improve data quality, and deliver insights that drive decision-making across the business

As we continue to scale our SaaS product, this is a new and important role for a hands-on data leader to take ownership of Signable's entire data function. The role sits right at the heart of how we use our data. You’ll work hybrid across data engineering, analytics, architecture and strategy, rolling up your sleeves to build the pipelines, models and processes that keep our data reliable and ready to use.

This is a foundational role within a small but growing team, ideal for someone who loves both the craft of data and the challenge of shaping a strategic direction. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, can shape a scalable data stack from the ground up and cares about doing things the right way.

You’ll take the lead on our data strategy while staying close to the tech, helping us scale our SaaS platform and set the short, medium and long-term vision for our data team. If you love mixing big-picture thinking with practical delivery and want to make a real impact on how a growing product uses data we would love to hear from you.

The role will suit someone currently in a senior role looking to step up into a Head of Data position and take ownership of our Data strategy, whilst staying close to the technical challenges.

There are currently 2 people in our data team. We're currently working with technology such as DBT, AWS, RedShift, S3, PostgreSQL, GitLab, Hevo.

Your strategy and ideas will help craft the direction of the company right from the top
Owning the company-wide data strategy: Defining how data is collected, structured, governed, and used to drive insights across all teams
Delivering hands-on data engineering and analysis: Design and build robust data models, transform raw data into insight-ready layers, and support ad-hoc analytical needs
Champion innovation in data, including exploring, integrating and educating the use of tools like AI
Own a set of metrics to help measure the success of the data team’s delivery of tools, insights and value to the business

You know how to hire, build and scale a strong data team, developing people at all levels as the function grows
You are a Strategic “big picture thinker” with experience building data strategy for a scaling/startup (and ideally) B2B SAAS environment
You bring experience of introducing improved analytics, orchestration and observability practices, and you are skilled at guiding the selection of future BI/tools and enable reliable, self-serve insights across a business
You are an exceptional communicator, not afraid to challenge the status quo, able to influence and align stakeholders at all levels, from the board to engineers with ideas, strategy and, of course, data
