Job Description

Brakes are recruiting for a Programme Manager to join the Strategy and Transformation Team on a 2-year fixed term contract. This role will be based from home, however will require site visits into our Scotland Depots, particularly New House several times per month, we’re looking for someone who lives in a commutable distance to Scotland and is flexible with travel.

Brakes – A Sysco GB company are embarking on a significant transformation journey worth over £25 million, particularly in Scotland as we plan to extend our New House depot and modernise our technology, re-invent our network and simplify our business in order to offer new and exciting customer propositions to deliver market leading growth across the region.

Reporting to the Programme Director, you’ll lead the planning, delivery and governance of this strategic programme tracking and reporting on progress and overall status as well as identifying key dependencies and risks. The role will bring overarching visibility and governance to the programme ensuring it continues to meet the changing demands of the business, whilst also creating a culture that fosters high levels of engagement and cross-functional working. An autonomous role where you’ll create and set your own priorities and make critical decisions in line to successfully support the Scotland growth programme objectives.

  Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and own the overall Scotland programme plan(s) ensuring it’s kept up to date, balancing risk & benefits delivery, recognising all interdependencies between individual projects as well across Resource, systems & process.
  • Set up and lead relevant programme governance forums.
  • Lead the teams to ensure all individual projects have appropriate plans, governance, and business cases and are tracked and managed according to Sysco GB PMO.
  • Works closely with & supports the project managers to maintain respective plans with programme level / cross-project dependencies, risks, resource etc.
  • Ensure all relevant work streams are fully engaged in the programme with regular senior stakeholder updates in place.
  • Work closely with Finance teams to ensure full visibility of costs & benefits with forecasts accurately updated.
  • Provide regular customer & business updates, recognising colleague & customer sensitivities.
  • Ensure robust change management activities are delivered with appropriate training and readiness checks in place.
  • Provide regular Exec level updates to ensure key issues are appropriately escalated and understood.
  • Work with each functional area to forecast and plan resource levels required to deliver the programme.
  • Support the Programme Director as required with content for Exec presentations and team meetings.

You’ll have proven experience delivering large high complex, multi-disciplinary programmes, ideally within supply chain or food service with the ability to create simplicity and structure out of complexity and ambiguity. A strong blend of operational programme execution and strategic thinking is essential. We’re looking for someone who’s an expert in change management and can implement structure and frameworks to support the delivery of desired business outcomes, particularly across Supply Chain and Digital. You’ll work closely with a team of senior stakeholders and peers within a matrix structure so must be able to communicate effectively and engage with the business through transformation and change. Experience managing large budgets whilst leading and driving the direction of teams to achieve successful programme objectives is essential.
