Come and join our dedicated team based in the beautiful County of Cumbria, covering Cumbria, Northumberland, and County Durham. The job has an office base within Kendal, Cumbria, but hybrid working from home is acceptable.

We are currently looking for a Director of Care with responsibility for over 30 care and support projects for people with learning disabilities across the north of England.

Director of Care – The Role:

As the Director of Care you will be passionate about the excellence of care, lead by example and continuously improve the quality of our offering to our customers. You will need to meet the Care Quality Commission requirements, as our registered Nominated Individual.

You must be flexible and adaptable in your approach to meet the demands of the charity. If you are the type of leader who will not accept poor care or unkind behaviours and instead encourage a culture of excellent performance, this role could be for you.

You will be working closely with other Directors and Registered Managers to ensure that our strategic plan is achieved across the region.

Director of Care - Qualifications and Essential Skills Required:

Excellent communication skills are essential as reporting to key stakeholders including to the Charity Board of Trustees is a key part of the role.

• Degree level or equivalent qualification

• Experienced senior leadership level, preferably, although not exclusively, within health or social leadership level.

• Health or social care industry or multi-faced management experience.

• Excellent Knowledge of developing high quality care services.

• Commercial Awareness

• Managing budgets and delivering against financial targets

• Supporting business development opportunities.

• Effective and strategic influencing, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate with confidence, conviction and enthusiasm.

• Strong effective People leadership skills, committed to respecting, valuing and developing Colleagues.

• Analytical problem-solver – with the ability to interpret complex information and act upon it appropriately. Including identify root causes, identify trends, performance and risk, developing action plans for quality improvement.

• Excellent time management, delegation and organisational skills executed effectively under pressure.

• Ability to recognise and respond to Health & Safety risks likely to occur in a health and social care environment and is a ‘hands on’ visible leader, able to demonstrate and lead by example.

• Ability to manage change, galvanising different points of view and take advantage of opportunities.

• Ability and proven prior experience to prepare and implement actions arising from performance and regulatory reports.
