HMP Isle of Wight’s present role is a category B male training prison. Located on a small island, HMP Isle of Wight is located 8 minutes from St Mary’s Hospital and 26 minutes away from Cowes Ferry Terminal. Currently our core hours of operation are – 07:30 -17:30 This position is full time 40 hours a week and you’ll receive an annual salary up to £130,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience. Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. We deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment. How will we support you? * Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course * Competency framework * Regional and national career development opportunities * Our bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needs * Support from the wider team *Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.* *What you'll be doing* As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities. We recognise training and development is key, therefore we provide a training portal to facilitate your needs as well as have an in-depth induction for all staff whether you have experience of working in prisons or not. You will gain insight into Mental Health and Substance Misuse, as well as access to a variety of training opportunities with the opportunity to work towards your RCGP level 2 and other qualifications should you wish.
