Joseph Walker founded Walker’s Shortbread when he opened his bakery in the Speyside village of Aberlour in 1898 where Walker’s remains to this day. As the Packaging Technologist, you will source, develop and deliver fit for purpose packaging solutions, innovation opportunities and business KPIs in line with the overarching company strategy.
You will work closely with all relevant functions within the business, and ensure customers and site expectations are met in full to ensure compliance in terms of packaging quality, safety, and legislation.
Maintain and deliver efficient packaging governance and compliance in line with legislation, policy and external stakeholders including internal and external reporting on specific targets and KPI’s.
Provide expertise in specific packaging sourcing projects. Developing packaging processes to fit global compliance and quality standards, taking a lead role in sustainability initiatives and opportunities.
Continuously monitor packaging for cost saving and weight reduction opportunities and, where appropriate, manage trials and their implementation.
working with the internal and external stakeholders including contract customers and suppliers to deliver packaging changes and introductions from concept to execution. Agreeing a project execution with the customers
Working closely with all relevant functions within the business, your role will be to ensure customers and site expectations are met in full and ensuring compliance in terms of packaging quality, hygiene, safety, and legality.
Generate technical packaging specifications for areas of responsibility.
Liaise with NPD, supplier approval, technical, production, procurement, finance etc. to deliver projects to timescales & costs.
Strong understanding of quality, testing procedures & legislation regarding packaging materials
Experience within Packaging technologist roles in food / FMCG.
Food science related degree is desirable.
