Dalkia UK have a great opportunity for a Catering/Chef Manager to join our school team based in Walkden, Manchester.

This is a dual role combining 'hands on' duties e.g. food preparation, food service and cleaning as well as managerial duties.

Hours of work

  • 7am-3.30pm (inc 30 minute unpaid lunch break), 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

'Hands on' Responsibilities

  • Setting up and packing away the dining and service areas - including setting up / packing away dining furniture
  • Preparing food and beverages
  • Serving food and beverages
  • Carrying out cashier duties during service
  • Cleaning the kitchen and dining room and associated furniture/equipment pre/post/during service

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Leading, developing, coaching, training, and motivating the team
  • Being the first point of contact for the school for catering services
  • Supporting control of the catering operation including stock, food, and labour costs
  • Ensuring consistency of food and service standards delivered to the students and staff
  • Managing and improving all controllable costs
  • Maintaining company systems, procedures, and legislation
  • Carrying out regular audits to ensure standards are being met where required
  • Attending monthly meetings with the school, Local Authority and Dalkia teams

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working in a commercial catering environment
  • Previous experience of supervising / leading a team
  • The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check
  • COSHH Training
  • Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations/HACCP
  • Basic IT competence - including the use of Excel, Outlook
