The service you will work in….

Our service is focused on working within supported accommodation for up to 15 male individuals who have complex needs and may require support around their offending behaviours, substance and alcohol misuse, homelessness, mental health and well being, budgeting and tenancy sustainment.

You will be working with service users on a daily basis to help encourage and advocate for support services within the community, key worker responsibilities which includes supporting with appointments, benefits, training and employment opportunities, cooking, health and safety, community activities, engaging with both internal and external providers, housing options and move on. 

A day in this role looks like...

As a Dual Diagnosis Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Criminal Justice Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To develop and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with a range of residents with complex health and support needs, including substance misuse and a history of offending behaviour
  • To build and maintain therapeutic relationships with residents, allowing them to recognise, discuss and address their issues relating to substance misuse and offending behaviour
  • To support residents to maintain their independence, identify strengths, and support service users to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • To develop and deliver both one-to-one and group interventions that support residents to address their support needs regarding substance misuse and offending behaviour, focusing on the link between these two issues and a journey of rehabilitation and recovery
  • To liaise with residents, Support Workers and external agencies to formulate, implement and review tailored Support and Safety plans with residents
  • To provide the service with specialist knowledge regarding the complexities of substance misuse and offending behaviour, being responsible for the delivery of information, support and guidance for both residents and staff
  • To keep up to date with sector knowledge relating to substance misuse and the Criminal Justice Sector by attending training, events and conducting independent research, and to be responsible for sharing and implementing key findings as applicable
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with key external stakeholders, such as Offender Managers and healthcare professionals, in order to provide holistic, reflective support for residents
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met
  • Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures
  • Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks as they arise
  • Ensure that administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously and that confidentiality is appropriately maintained and carry out duties, in line with organisational policies and procedures
