Background:

Our client is looking to enhance the management of their contracts. A recent review has highlighted areas where the performance of key contracts are able to be improved.

We are seeking an Interim Contract Management Improvement Consultant to provide support to contract managers in implementing necessary improvements at both the individual contract level and for the overall organisation.

Details:

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of our client's critical contracts, totaling approximately 30. You will work closely with Contract Managers and senior stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of contract management for each contract and develop improvement plans where required. Your role will also involve monitoring the implementation of these plans and providing support to the contract managers as needed.

Key areas that will be reviewed include:

  • Governance structure
  • Contract documentation (including contract management plan)
  • Contract change management
  • Risk management
  • Performance management
  • Relationship management
  • Cost management
  • Value for money and alignment with business case objectives

As part of the review process, you will identify additional opportunities for cost savings and other contractual benefits that have not been previously addressed. You will collaborate with the contract manager and supplier to agree on and implement these initiatives.

Additionally, you will work at a directorate level to evaluate the overall contract landscape, ensuring appropriate resources are in place and that the structure and organisation are suitable. Based on your findings, you will develop improvement recommendations for the relevant director.

Experience & Skills:

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Significant experience in driving contract management improvements across a portfolio of contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance contract performance and reduce costs
  • Extensive experience in directly managing high-value, complex contracts
  • Experience in managing contracts within either a social care or infrastructure and corporate environment
  • Exceptional influencing skills to secure buy-in from stakeholders
  • Proven track record of effectively transferring knowledge to client contract managers to enhance their skills
