Pre-Construction Drawing Technician

Role Description

To provide a Computer Aided Design (CAD) service for carrying out functions primarily related to utilities construction street works projects. Further to assist in supporting planning and administrative roles within the PDM business unit.

Principle Duties and Accountabilities:

Responsible for the production of all drawings and diagrams, pre-construction, construction and post-construction, used on any project.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all drawings and diagrams are delivered on time and to the client’s specification.
  • Production of Red-line drawings.
  • Production of as-laid drawings.
  • Production of trial trench / hole drawings.
  • Production of traffic management drawings.
  • Production of multi-utility diversion works design drawings.
  • Maintaining the client maintenance contracts database for plant enquiry contracts.
  • Undertaking site surveys.
  • Ordering digital Ordnance Survey data from clients and OS Partners.
  • Assisting the CAD Manager in their day-to-day duties and covering for the CAD Manager during times of absence whether sickness or leave.
  • Assist in the training of new and inexperienced staff to ensure they are aware of procedures and required standards.
  • Following the company health, safety and quality practices and procedures.
  • Any other duties necessary for the successful completion of a project.

Skills:

  • Previous experience as a CAD technician undertaking design and detailing s on CAD drawings.
  • Able to demonstrate good organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work accurately and methodically under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Able to work alone affectively or as part of a team
  • PC literate; fully conversant with standard Microsoft software to intermediate level
  • Ability to prioritize own work and undertake instructions from the PDMl Manager, CAD Manager and operational management team.
  • The ability to use AutoCAD in order to produce technical drawings.
  • Ability to comprehensively check own work
  • Must have experience using Autodesk 3D Revit

Qualifications / Competency:

  • Minimum C&G Level 2 certificate in 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD)
