RS Aqua are a UK ocean science technology business. We empower ocean science and exploration with cutting-edge technology for further discovery, better understanding and the protection of our oceans. We are an independent SME, a high growth business, and we are the UK’s leading and largest ocean technology distributor and subsea scientific equipment supplier.
To continue our growth journey, we are looking for an Ocean Technology Sales Specialist to join our supportive and high performing team.
Our modern offices and workshops are located the beautiful Port Solent Marina, Portsmouth. You will be based in Port Solent most of your time, with hybrid and flexible working available, with travel required throughout UK and internationally.
The Role
You will be part of a six-person sales team, reporting into the Director of Sales & Marketing. You will be supporting our customers and collaborators across the ocean science technology user communities by providing technical, commercial and application advice.
Confidence, credibility and impeccable communication skills are essential for this role, as you will be dealing directly with ocean scientists, engineers and specialist end users.
You will receive comprehensive training, and you will be expected to maintain high levels of technical competence across our technologies, including meteorological / ocean data gathering, oceanography, underwater acoustics, marine robotics and other subsea engineered technologies.
A typical week for you might include:
- Building quotations for equipment according to client requirements
- Maintaining accurate sales records in our CRM (Salesforce )
- Account management and proactive engagement with RS Aqua’s client base
- Developing business development strategies for targeting different client segments
- Driving business development activities, such as virtual meetings, customer visits, demonstrations, trade shows and conferences
- Working with marketing colleagues to help produce high quality technical marketing content
- Maintaining technical and hands-on knowledge of relevant RS Aqua products
- Researching new technologies for RS Aqua client base
Experience & Qualifications
- Science / Engineering / Maritime graduate degree or equivalent .
- 2+ years of experience in a technical sales, business development or similar commercial role.
- Experience and evidence of driving and growing sales in a technical sector.
- Evidence of business development and strategic, longer-term sales planning.
- Experience of working hands-on with science technology instruments or equipment.
- Experience of giving presentations on scientific or technical subjects.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM a bonus
