Business Development Manager, IP

A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking a strategic and proactive Business Development Manager to help drive the growth of its patent and intellectual property offering across the UK and internationally. This is a high-impact role working closely with senior stakeholders to shape BD strategy, strengthen client relationships and support expansion across key innovation sectors. The position sits within a collaborative Marketing & BD team and plays a central role in the firm’s transition toward a more sector-focused, data-driven and internationally aligned function. Strategic Planning & Firm Alignment: Lead the development and delivery of BD plans that align with sector priorities, firm-wide objectives and international growth across the UK, Europe, USA and Japan. New Business Acquisition: Drive targeted campaigns, tailored pitches and data‑led prospecting to attract new clients and generate strategic growth opportunities. Client Development & Key Accounts: Strengthen key client relationships, support cross‑selling and use data insights to enhance targeting, engagement and account development. Campaigns, Events & Visibility: Deliver BD-led events, manage directory submissions and support market visibility through targeted outreach, industry engagement and international event follow-up. BD Infrastructure, Reporting & ROI: Maintain CRM accuracy, report on BD performance and ROI, and support the development of data-driven BD practices using tools such as InterAction+ and PowerBI. Skills: Bring proven professional services BD experience, strong partner‑level stakeholder management, excellent communication skills and commercial, strategic thinking, with desirable experience in IP, CRM tools and data‑driven BD. Success Measures / KPIs: Demonstrate growth in new clients, revenue, referrals, rankings and partner engagement, while improving pipeline conversion and using CRM insights to inform strategic decisions.
