Role Purpose - Lead in the strategic and operational delivery of sports science and conditioning support services to the first team players of PVFC.
Maximise the physical condition and fitness performance of first team players for training and match play.

Direct Reports - First Team Sports Scientist; First Team Student Strength and Conditioning Coach/Sports Scientist(s); Lead Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach/Sports Scientist.

Key Accountabilities - Lead in the strategic and operational management of the club’s fitness and conditioning department.
Planning and management of the sports science budget.
Liaise with management and coaching staff to guide training session durations/drill dimensions/load.
Lead pre-training squad activation activities and delivery of grass-based warm-ups for both training sessions and matchdays.
Lead squad gym-based strength/power sessions to cater for both team and individual needs/demands.
Co-ordinate/deliver physical top up sessions for players outside of the matchday squad.
Management and maintenance of stock/servicing equipment within the gym-setting as required.
Liaise with the club’s Nutrition Consultant over education and individual player support packages.
Co-ordinate the stock/ordering of nutrition support through the club’s supplement partners.
Liaise with the club’s yoga instructor over booking sessions.
Liaise with the Head of Medical regarding injury risk reduction, injury management, rehabilitation and return to play pathways.
Pitch-based session delivery in latter stages of rehabilitation phase, prior to return to training activities in conjunction with medical staff.
Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet the football club’s changing priorities.

Essentials - Undergraduate degree in Strength and Conditioning or a related field.
UKSCA or BASES Accreditation (or ability to attain within 6 months).
At least 5 years experience within elite sport (preferably football).
Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
Eligible to work in the UK with a full UK Driving Licence.
Flexibility of working hours to suit the nature of elite sport.

Desirables - Post Graduate qualification in Strength and Conditioning or related field.
ISAK Level 1 Accreditation.
Experience of leading an elite sport science program.
Experience of using sport science technology including GPS, VALD products.
Relevant first aid qualification.

Enhanced DBS Check Required - Yes
Registered to Work in the UK - Yes
Full Clean Driving Licence - Yes
