Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist (Medical Retina) within the Ophthalmology Department based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. This locum post is available for a period of 12 months.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
The Ophthalmology Department serves a population of approximately 475,000 across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, providing a complete range of ophthalmic care across multiple sub-specialties. There is a commitment to the on-call rota which is currently 1 in 14.

Broad training and experience in Ophthalmology
Specialist training, research, audit, service development activities and experience in Medical Retina
Completion of at least 1 year Vitreoretina Fellowship training
Experience with virtual working and EPR
Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
Evidence of teaching medical students, junior doctors and allied health practitioners
