Under the leadership of Chairman Dame Margaret Barbour, Barbour has grown into a lifestyle brand sold in over 55 countries worldwide including Europe, the US and Asia offering a wardrobe of stylish functional clothing, footwear and accessories inspired by the unique values of the British countryside. The iconic Barbour Bedale and Barbour Beaufort wax jackets continue to be made by hand in the factory in South Shields. In 2020, Barbour launched Wax for Life, an overarching name for all of Barbour’s wax services designed to encourage customers to extend the life of their wax garments. We are currently recruiting for a Photography Manager to join our dynamic and fast-paced Studio team on a temporary Maternity Cover based at our inhouse studio, South Shields. This role will manage our team of photographers and retouchers to create world class imagery, and work as part of the wider studio team to create industry leading ecommerce & marketing assets across the Barbour brands. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a busy ecommerce photography studio and experience of managing photographers.
Responsible for training and development of our team of photographers & retouchers, sourcing and briefing in all external consultants. Inspire and lead by example through a culture of continuous improvement in order deliver world-class ecommerce assets. Manage & continuously develop the studio’s technical specifications relating to photography, lighting and retouch.
Ensure that all creative & commercial photographic standards/processes are understood and met by the photography team, including all archiving systems.
Work closely with the Senior Studio Producer to agree & execute the workload of our photography team, ensuring that daily/weekly tasks are achieved to the highest standards and deadlines are met.
Delegate Ad Hoc Photography tasks effectively throughout the team to ensure critical path is always on time.
Responsible for all quality control of imagery produced in the studio by photography and retouch team. This includes naming, crops, retouch quality and handover admin.
Responsible for the management of the Photography and Retouch holidays in relation to the studio critical path being managed.
Work closely with our Digital Team to ensure that all DTC projects are delivered on-time and to brief. QC’ing all imagery and ensuring naming is correct.
Conduct regular 121’s, annual reviews, objective setting of photography team with the Studio & Production Manager.
Degree or Higher Qualification in Photography
An expert in on and off-model ecommerce photography
An expert knowledge of photography, retouching and lighting techniques is essential
An extremely high competence of using Photoshop & Capture One
Confidence in training others on photographic and retouching techniques
High competence using Microsoft Office (Excel/PPT)
May involve travel when required.
