Salary: £28,075.00
Location: This is a remote role *, based nationally (expected travel often to London but can be elsewhere once a month)
Hours: The equivalent of 1.5 days working days/week minimum. Some availability during core working hours, 10 am-4 pm, Monday to Thursday; however, we offer flexibility for studies and other work. One evening once/twice a month ( for online calls) Approx 4 Saturdays a year (for in-person Youth Advisory Board meetings)

Role Purpose
To Co-Chair and coordinate engagement with the Youth Voice Advisory Board and shape the Youth Voice Strategic approach of the NCS Trust

To sit on the RCb Board as a Youth Advisor, ensuring NCS embeds youth voice within all strategic decision-making.

Key activities
Championing the voice of young people within NCS Trust as the Co-Chair of the Youth Voice Advisory Board:

RCbB
Leading and shaping the delivery of youth perspective to the RCb Board, acting as the primary conduit between the Youth Voice Advisory Board and the RCb Board
Prepare for RCb Board meetings, working with mentors to support your development.
Attend strategic RCb Board away days and meetings to ensure youth voice is represented and amplified.

Internal
Chair YAB meetings in an inclusive and empowering manner that helps other members of the Youth Voice Advisory Board to contribute and develop
Visit NCS programmes to understand NCS's impact and where it can improve.
Bring recommendations and feedback to the Senior Leadership Team and RCb Board on various issues relating to the evolution of the NCS programme and how Young People experience it.
Prepare for and attend key meetings and interactions to ensure youth perspective is influential across key aspects of NCS Trust’s work;
Advocate for meaningful youth voice practice across the Trust and support effective engagement.

External
Engage in sector networks to represent NCS, align youth strategies, and share good practice.
Act as a spokesperson for NCS Trust on key issues
Representing NCS externally

Measures of success
All RCb Board Away Days attended
Engaged in and influenced key strategic conversations with the RCb Board
Chaired and facilitated Youth Voice Advisory Board meetings
Worked with internal teams to help embed Youth Voice and engage the Youth Advisory Board
Attended external events as a representative of NCS
Attended NCS programme visits and can reflect feedback into NCS Trust decisions
Supported the Trust's understanding of Youth Voice and young people's challenges and prioritises
Attended and contributed to Senior Leadership Team youth voice updates
Contributed to the development of the NCS Trust’s Youth Voice strategy
Ensured the Youth Advisory Board was kept engaged in several projects
Supported the continuous development of youth voice engagement resources, frameworks, and ways of working
Supported driving and sharing youth voice best practices across NCS partners/stakeholders and other sectors.

Provisional dates for Royal Charter body Board meetings for 2025 are:
Wednesday 2nd April
Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th June
Wednesday 24th September
Wednesday 3rd December

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Must have had NCS experience
Ability to reflect and draw upon experiences of their own and others and passionately represent those experiences and insight.
We seek candidates from regions outside London to enhance our representation and understanding of communities across England.

Desirable:
Experience participating in youth engagement activities, including experience working with/supporting other young people to represent their views to policy and strategic decision-makers;
Understanding of and thoughts about youth, education and social policy in the UK and how they might relate to NCS
Demonstrate how your experiences and ways of working align with the NCS Trust value* Please see the bottom of this document

We would like the person to be on board the week of December 2nd.

All NCS Trust employees have a basic check as a minimum. Any roles which involve regular face to face contact with Young People or access to schools will require an enhanced check.
